Working offline
Chatting with no internet on an iPhone: Apple Intelligence and models you download to the phone.

On an iPhone, chat can answer with no internet, from a model that runs on the phone's own chip. What you type and the photos you send stay on the phone. This is on iPhone only.
With no internet, a bar says "You are offline. Chats on this phone still open." If an answer cannot reach Letronna, it is written on the phone instead, and says which model answered.
The models
Open Settings > On this iPhone > Models, or Manage in the model menu.

The screen shows each model's size and what is free on the phone. Bigger models answer better, but take more space and battery. A model too big for your iPhone's memory says so before it downloads.
Downloading one
- Tap Get beside a model.
- Read the size, and tap Get again. Wi-Fi is best; the app warns you on mobile data.
- Keep chatting while it downloads.
Tap a model for more: Pause download, Resume download, Cancel download, Use in chat, Delete from iPhone and View on Hugging Face. To add other models, see Adding a model.
Photos
The downloaded models read text at first. To let one read photos, choose Add photo reading on it: a second download, a few hundred MB. Photos are read on the phone and stay on it. Apple Intelligence reads text only.
Web search
With internet, Ternary Bonsai 2 · 4B and Qwen3.5 can search the web through Letronna. Only the search words leave the phone.
Limits
A chat that grows too long for a model on the phone says "This chat is too long for a model on the phone. Start a new chat." If a model will not load for lack of memory, close some apps or pick a smaller one.
